College Bound

Would you rather your child attend a university known for academics or sports?

Again, no kids, but no way I'd choose sports over academics. I wouldn't care if he played sports while attending, provided he kept his grades up. (Or her grades up. Whatever.) No matter how good an athlete a kid is, he's only an achille's tendon tear (or car wreck or something else) away from never being able to play again. And then what?

Ideal, if the kid wanted to play sports, would be to choose a college that was good at both (and there are quite a few).

::ditto Well except I do have a kid going off to college next year.
 
My kid is soon to graduate from a college who's football program starts next year, if that answers the question.
 
Of course academics, unless he or she is in the one tenth of one percent who actually have an honest shot at the Bigs. Football is fun to watch, but getting drunk in the bleachers every Fall Saturday will hardly land you that Fortune 500 job.
