Computer help, before I kill someone

Shoes!!!!
Went to get on the laptop this morning and could not. I realized it was not connecting to the wireless network. (my network name was not listed) Tried the other laptop, same thing. I am on the antique desktop which is getting a connection, but it is the main "hub" for everything. My router is blinking like it always does, (LINKSYS) but how do I know if it is really working? I doubt both the laptops failed at the same time and I have no idea how to troubleshoot or fix the router. Any suggestions? I am so stressed.

I am thinking that too, but before I run out and buy one I wanted someone with more knowledge than I to tell me that! :laugh

Usual tech support suggestions:

1. Unplug the router. Both the phone/cable connection the power connection. Wait about 30 seconds. Then plug the power back in first, then the phone/cable connection. Wait about a minute for everything to get synched up again.

2. This probably won't help, but you could try shutting down the laptop and restarting it. You can do that at the same time while you are waiting for step 1 to get restarted. If both laptops are not connecting, then I doubt this will help - but worth a try.

It may be a pain, but if it is the wireless portion those routers aren't too much $$$.

I did do #1 and it worked! I don't know why I didn't do that before trying to figure out why the network wasn't working, or running troubleshooting on things. :huh

I've had to reboot my modem twice this week. I think AT&T is working on the system or something.
