Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

I think my neighbor is still at Paulding Hospital. I've texted his wife a couple of times and no response.

I did one of those "where are you in line for the vaccine" things on the interweb and I was at about top 20 percent. In reading everything about the distribution so far I think those of us who are still in the wild but have multiple complications won't actually receive any special consideration. It looks like we will fall under "general public". What I see in the future is healthcare workers and nursing home patients getting it then a drive thru free for all.

Timeout for an overdue rant and I apologize in advance:

I know this isn’t a popular opinion and it’s intended as a general statement (not at anyone here) but personally I’m sick of hearing about how many people have “tested positive.” Why should I give a crap about how many positive cases there are as long as there’s a 99% survival rate and hospital ER facilities are not being over burdened. Wasn’t that the whole point of why the lockdowns and other measures were initiated. This is not the first nor will it be the last communicable disease to hit mankind, nor is it the deadliest. We’re now conditioned to focus on the dreaded daily numbers instead of on living what’s left of our apparently miserable lives. We’re not meant to live forever although we do enjoy the privilege of existing during the time with the longest average lifespan. I personally choose to live like I’m living and refuse to live as I’m already passed.

Carry on...I’ll ban myself now.

My wife's family wants everyone together for Christmas at her brother's house. That's a lot of people, so we decided to opt out.

Ok, I had my snickers bar McRib so now I'm back to my normal self.13F9AD75-7B8A-423B-9AFB-51AAC42AE2A2.jpeg

And after that McRib we now have a legit reason to wear a mask around here. I’m going to start posting those daily numbers and give us a reason for a lockdown. Whewwwww....
Ummmm, you didn't need that McRib to have a reason to wear masks around there.

McRib may be good, but it can't beat a footlong chili cheese coneydog from Coney Island Drive In in Brooksville, FL (where Elvis ate). One of their dining rooms is an Elvis shrine. He used to frequent the diner when he was filming a movie in the area. The coney dogs there are right up there with peanut butter/banana sandwiches.

We went there today intending on blowing all our weightwatcher points on a fabulous hot dog/french fry lunch. The wait line was out the door (on both sides - indoor and outdoor dining) - and we didn't want to hang around for an hour to find a seat, so we just came home and had a cup of soup instead.

Down to 1.15 today, still way too high.

I heard today that my pastor has the Wuhan.

I talked with a lady here in the RV park today. She tested positive a few weeks ago. She is in the high risk group - elderly, overweight, high blood pressure, and other co-morbidity issues. She never had any symptoms, and never felt sick, other than a couple of days of sniffles. After self quarantine, she has come out of hibernation. Now she thinks she was falsely diagnosed, and maybe just had some sort of 24 hour bug at the time. I wonder how many other reported cases are similar.

That sounds just like the two recent cases we have had with an employee and a different employee's husband!

They think it was not covid because it acts more like a cold after the first 2 days... one had no fever but a cough, the other had no cough but a fever... after a few days the fever and cough went away and it was like a head cold! Very odd. Both had positive covid tests.

Well we have some bad Covid news. No death, but a family member who is an actress and somewhat young in her career actually got a recurring role with guest star credit on a major network TV show. She got the part, they flew her out for the shoot, and she tested positive yesterday when she first walked on the set. They had to give the part to someone else. She called in tears and is returning to Atlanta in a car she had to rent (and that she can't afford) because she can't fly.

I wish there was something to say to make her feel better. She did get a nice personal e-mail from the director, the casting director, and the network show runner though, so hopefully they will keep her in mind. Covid sucks big time.

That sucks.

I would take another test, it may have been a false positive. Those rapid tests seem to have reliability problems.

They couldn't postpone the shoot for her to go get another test. She isn't Meryl Streep :) . They are doing the best they can with what they have and they have to default to protecting the rest of the cast and crew. It's understandable, but it just sucks. She has been so careful too.

She's a close enough family member that we went and got tested this morning even though neither of us have symptoms. I very much imagine that you are right and the test was a false positive.

It seems to happen to race car drivers, horse jockeys, and other performers. They are as you say trying to keep everyone safe, but then those who test positive never end up getting sick, but they lose out big time on their event.

We will hope an even better opportunity for her comes out of this.
