Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

I looked at a few of the home tests on Amazon and there were many reviews stating that the tests came back negative but lab tests came back positive.
That's what I was finding. I went looking for a home test for my wife anyway and couldn't find one anywhere. I think what we really need is some factual reporting on what is a reliable and safe test, as I read somewhere that one of them contains a deadly chemical in it. My wife has now been exposed twice in the last two weeks and received the booster 3 weeks ago. Friday I had a headache, scratchy throat and diarrhea,,, but I still have sense of smell and taste and feel fine now,,, so I'm laying low for a while and suggest Ya'll do the same.

I don't think the Omicron is taking smell and taste away. From what I understand, symptoms are very different from the previous variants. Mainly body acres, fever, headache.

Home test was negative so I am thinking Flu for me at this point. If I still have the fever tomorrow I will go to the doctor.
We have had what seems like the flu go through half our employees in the past four or so weeks... All tested at the county Covid test sites (no rapid test,) and tested negative... The symptoms mirrored Covid, except no one lost taste or smell...

Almost all employees who got Covid last year lost taste and smell in the first few days of being sick.

August 25th was the last case of Covid that an employee had. They were fully vaxxed- it was the Delta. They are in their early 20's and it kicked their butt. Said they had never in their life been so sick, they lost taste and smell, but regained it as they got well... the regular Covid the employees lost taste and smell for upwards of 3 to 7 months... it was crazy.

So glad to hear the Omicron is the dominate one and it is mild.

Reading Facebook this morning, a whole bunch of my friends have come down with covid over the last few days. And almost all of them are vaccinated. The vaccine might reduce symptoms, but Omicron is running right through it.

Thankfully, none of these people have been terribly sick so far. Hope that continues.

The next couple of weeks, if not longer, are gonna be crazy. This stuff is spreading like wildfire.

I'm hoping the surge will be short though, it seemed to come and go quickly in South Africa.

My older brother tested positive and is sick as a dog...very rough cough and body aches...this stuff is real. He started feeling better after 2 days, but then it just smacked him again... he's in bed and will be out of work all week.

1.88 today

I suspect the real number is much higher. All the home test positives are probably not being reported.

I don't doubt the stats above, but that's apparently for the entire COVID saga.

For Omicron, it appears that the majority of cases are among vaccinated people. Not saying they are more susceptible. just that the vaccinated are a whole new group for Omicron to play in who were previously somewhat protected.

As for hospitalizations and deaths, probably insufficient data because there aren't many from Omicron. At least yet.

Omicron has changed everything. Maybe not for the worse, time will tell.
