OK, I just don't get all the guys gushing over her.

Let's be realistic. She is a somewhat attractive woman who is doing a fair job competing in what has been a man's sport.

Yes, somewhat attractive. She's cute, she is not gorgeous.

Yes, fairly competitive. She's a good driver, not a great driver (at least yet).

This is to take nothing away from her. She has marketed herself brilliantly. And in the business world (and Nascar is a business), that is what counts.

:sick She's needs to go back where she came from. I'm an old school fan. I don't like the "cross-overs".

I don't have a problem with her being a woman. Just pointing out that she wouldn't be anywhere near as popular or successful if she wasn't a fairly attractive boobie bearer.

I don't have a problem with her being a woman. I have a problem with her (and Montoya) trying to be NASCAR drivers.

Oh come on now. Stop hating on Danica. She did very well in Forumula 1 racing; better than most of the males there. She will do well in NASCAR. The Andretti's raced both Formula and NASCAR back in the day. They weren't the only ones either.

Didn't like the Andretti's either. :p

Nearly every Nascar driver "crossed over" from somewhere else. Mostly from USAC and ARCA. She is a good driver who could be great if she would lose her Dale Junior attitude and quit blaming equipment and other drivers when things don't go her way. I don't like drivers going back and forth from another motorsport to get Nascar money without putting in the work, but I really admire her decision to go full time in Nationwide, and only part time in Cup until she gains experience and the respect of the other drivers. Tony Stewart will be a great mentor if she will pocket the 'tude and listen.

While it's true that she wouldn't be all that as a marketable driver without her looks, she does have those looks, and she is all that (and a bag of chips). She may not be a better driver than Janet, but she came along at the right time with the right face for TV, and that's not her fault. I hope that she does well.

None of the crashes she had last week were her fault. Any other driver sitting in her seat would have had the same results.

I like for my women not to be built like a 12 year old boy. As I said on a previous post, she is Dale Jr. with a vagina. Neither will amount to anything in Nascar. Jr. is riding the coat tails of his dead father and Danica is popular because she is the prettiest fella out there on the track. She will soon go the way of Robin McCall, Shawna Robinson, Patti Moise and Erin Crocker.

"When Janet Guthrie qualified for the Indianapolis 500 in 1977, the male drivers protested. They "feared for their safety" and said women were emotionally unstable. On the NASCAR side, when Guthrie competed in the 1976 World 600, Richard Petty said his wife could have driven better with 14 screaming' kids in the back seat."

Yup, and she is going to have to learn to deal with that fact. She will get caught up in somebody else's accident more times than she will like. She will have bad pit stops. She will have a car that doesn't handle worth a flip for an entire gas run, maybe for most of a race. In Nascar, rubbin' is racin' and she can't take it all personally like she did in Indycar. I heard Tony hint at that when he was interviewed about bringing her over. He said that they had a long discussion about the fact that she has to earn respect and take her licks just like he did. She may have been a star in Indycar, but she is just another rookie in Nascar.

I agree that she will caught up in somebody elses wreck as all drivers have, the "plate tracks" are notorious for that happening far more than the rest of the tracks.
I wish Nascar would do something to eliminate the use of the restrictor plates.

One thing I've noticed; Formula racers have an easier time making the adjustment to NASCAR, than NASCAR racers do who try Formula.

True story.

Formula racing is more dangerous. Higher speeds and no roll cage. I think the Formula racers are more professional than NASCAR. By that I mean, you won't seen a Formula racer tap someone's rear and send them into a spin. Formula is a much cleaner race. I know there are a lot of Dale Sr fans out there, but he was a dirty racer. He thought nothing of tapping someone in the rear on a turn to send them spinning off the track or into a wall.

My thoughts exactly! Well said!

NASCAR drivers are awesome with their fans. Formula drivers suck. Their attitudes toward the sport also suck. I actually personally knew a man who tried and failed an attempt to move to NASCAR (they only want there because they think they'll make more money and aren't willing to pay their dues to get there). What he had to say disgusted me. He had done nothing to earn his spot in the sport and blamed the sport that he failed.

I think the reason for some of Formula racers attitudes when they get to NASCAR is they expect a clean race, but many NASCAR racers like to tap them and send them into a spin. Formula racers are used to clean racing, no dirty tricks to get the lead.

What I don't understand is the attitude NASCAR fans have with the "He hasn't paid his dues" thing. What dues? That's like saying a good football player shouldn't start in his rookie year in the NFL because "he hasn't paid his dues." If the guy has the talent, skills and sponsor then he or she deserves to be on the track.

Dale Sr fans couldn't stand Jeff Gordon and said he shouldn't be on the track because he hadn't "paid his dues;" yet Gordon was a winner and often beat Sr. Gordon fans claimed his father's money got him on the track. Gordon had been racing since he was a kid. Let's take a look at Dale Jr. Did he pay his "dues" or was it his father's name that gave him the opportunity to be racing? The truth is, Jr would most likely be doing something else for a living if his father wasn't a racer.
