Paulding County high school students can now use cell phones and tablets in class to enhance lessons.

The Board of Education on Tuesday approved changes to the board's policy on the use of electronic devices that now state that students may use electronic devices at the direction of the instructor. The use of electronics outside of instructional time is only allowed by students in grades nine through 12.

I'm sure there is a place for it, but I'd be curious about how it's implemented.

I smiled a little when I read this because most teachers are already allowing this. (and have been for years) Now granted the kids must have their own internet, but I would not hesitate to say most do. I know that in my sons case his teacher would say something and follow with, can someone look that up? Or if the were working on a paper and a student asked to find something on his phone, the teacher would allow it. It as helpful at times when they could not get to the library and look something up they forgot or needed. I do see where it could be a problem, but since it is worded as, at the direction of the teacher, I would think it would be handled much the same way.
