Even with rising costs a college education is still a good deal

According to this chart published by the New York Fed, it takes about 10 years to recoup all up front costs of a Bachelor degree including the interest on an average loan. I got pretty much screwed though.

I worked night and day to pay for my kid's education as she went. Zero college debt here.

I know some people who owe over 100 grand on student loans though, and can't get a job.

Luckily my son has no debt as of yet. We saved, though the rising costs of college are ridiculous. We hope we have enough with our money and his scholarships for him to obtain his IBA with no debt. He received his AA with none. Fingers crossed. )
