I am an extrovert and am up on new technology. But FB just got to be such a PAIN and I HATE their non-privacy crap, so I finally deleted my account. Never been happier.
Facebook can be as open or as private as you want it to be. I have friends that are not search-able and look as though they do not have FB pages. They do. Their posts are made to specific people (which is fairly recent to be able to specify your status to that extent) and even friends of friends cannot see them. Now you really can't play games like that (because games want your info to reuse) but for them it is okay. If you go through FB and start "liking" lots of open pages, more of your info does get out.
I will say I wish more parents would look at their kids pages. I can pretty much tell you everything, including DOB, phone#, and address for most of the teens I am friends with.
I have my email and phone number available to my friends. They have that anyway, but I could make it private if I want. I know that some stuff FB just has. Its a given, but I also know that people do not reset or check their privacy settings much if at all. It is more private that some think.
