Fads from "Back in the Day"

I really hate the saying "Back in the Day", so I thought I'd use it At the Hwy Coffee gathering this morning, The Foxter brought up old fads that were HOT, but now are NOT. Shoe Diva thought it would make for an interesting topic, so here goes.

Fox mentioned the Pet Rock and how you could still find them on line in the original box. It's unknown if anyone has ever let them out to potty, so please use caution if you buy one.

What are some old fads you can remember?

Velvet paintings - including Elvis?

I remember Clackers!!! I was good with those things after lots of practice and bruises.

How about fluorescent posters and black lights? My mother thought I was doing drugs because I had black lights and flourescent posters.

I never cared for the lava lamps.

How about Beta VCR decks? Used to have one of those too.

BetaMax was actually a superior system to VHF. But VHF won the marketing war.

I used to bust them...I am very rough on shoes..and I always ended up breaking them..haha

I never liked Sea Monkeys, but my son has some now.

What about slap bracelets, MC Hammer pants, slouchy socks or friendship bracelets?

Isn't it funny that some things that were cool when we were younger are now coming back around and are cool again?!

Beta had much better quality than VHS.
