Gas......(as in gasoline)

Gas prices seem to have been going up in a hurry. I don't know about what it is there, but I haven't heard any complaints, yet. On the news, they were showing cars lined up, six and seven deep, at gas pumps in Charleston. The gas station had priced fuel .06 a gallon less than surrounding stations.
Here is my question. If you buy 15 gallons of fuel, then you save 90 cents. It isn't worth that for me to wait six deep. Are people that worried about a buck or does it mean they can't do math?

I'm with you on this. My TIME is worth something also, so I sure aint sweating a buck saved over waiting in a long line. Never have, never will. The Kroger in Ridge Road is a good case in point. People will swarm those pumps like crazy, while Grand's across the street is only a penny or two more. I understand the savings from using your Kroger card, but that's easy enough.....I go get my gas later at night when the swarm is over. But if I need it badly at a bad time, I'm going where I can just drive straight up and pump.

For me, part of it is the challenge.

Having said that, I won't make special trips just to get a few cents less. If it is $0.10 or so then yes, I may out of my way a bit. Or just buy it at Kroger with my points.

I always wondered how much gas they are burning up waiting in those lines?

Excellent point. My mother used to drive across town in a Chrysler to save 2 cents per gallon. And she was a bookkeeper, so she understood numbers. I think it's a psychological thing people have.

But as Scooby mentioned above, my time is more valuable than that. Some people have nothing else to do, I ALWAYS have too much to do. I try to find cheap gas by buying at Sam's or Kroger, but no driving long ways to get it or waiting in lines for this guy.

I'd pay $15 per gallon to get my car to the poll in November and vote P-Bo out of Washington and I'd pay $25 per gallon to drive him back to the south side of Chicago. :Ninja

Twins (natch).

Now that Kroger lets you save your points and use them all at once, I will drive the extra few miles to get their gas, but only towards the end of the month, after I have spent enough there to get 30-40 cents off.
