Once a Dawg always a Dawg How sweet it is
ok ok i thought i was all technical savy but i need some help here

I recently installed Comcast Internet on my cpu it installs fine but every two days when i click on my IE it says opps it looks like we missed a step we need to install some software SO i gotta do it all over again then i can surf but the other problems ive been having are

1. WEBSITE HAS DECLINED TO SHOW YOU THIS PAGE

2. INTERNET WEBSITE CERTICICATE ERRORS

THIS IS A DAILY THING ANY SUGGESTIONS

You shouldn't have to install anything on your computer. Just install and activate the modem and off you go.

As for your error messages...sounds like ad ware or a virus to me.

Download and run Clamwin. Under preferences, tell it to quarantine infections. And I would have it send them to a folder you create on the desktop so they don't get lost in your docs file.

Agree with UM on IE, it's the debil. Go with Firefox or Chrome.

oh hush up dav and its not that its my laptop my desktop and my mothers cpu

IE is just as good as the other browsers 99.99% of the time as long as you keep it updated and anti-virus updated. I run IE and FF, usually at the same time because some programs I need will only run on IE and some are better on FF.

Now the issues UGA1 mentions could have been caused by almost anything. GD was correct, the setup should not have asked you to install anything but it's possible. Usually once the modem is setup properly you do not need to install anything. But knowing Comcast, they probably had some crap hidden in their setup disk that is causing a problem.

You can be sure that they had an arrangement with IE just as they used to have with Netscape. It automatically loaded the browser when you loaded the Comcast software.
