the TV show David Cassidy; Man Undercover? It ran a partial season 1978-79. The pilot was an episode of Police Story in which he received an Emmy nomination. I had completely forgotten about this program until I accidentally found it on Youtube. I watched the Police Story episode and the first episode from 78. GD should watch this today. It will help him pass some time being sick with the virus.
