I love Hoarders...

Pursuit Driver
It makes me feel better about the less than stellar condition of my house. :B_S

I type this as BabyB is sleeping. I am about to get busy, lol.

But I do wonder, when will my weekend visitors begin to visit less often? My in-laws are here every three weeks for three or four nights at a time. :faint Then my brother, then my own parents. When I have help with the baby is when I have company. I want to disappear for a month with no company so I can clean the crap out of my house.

(As a side note, it's not nasty, lol. It's just not was spotless as it was pre-BabyB. I am a clean freak. Or was.)

Oh, bless your heart. I think family means well. They come to "help" and enjoy visiting with the baby, which I completely understand, but if your personality is anything like mine, it was just more stress on me.

If you're brave enough (Haha!) just ask them all to skip a visit. Explain to them that you and MrB want some time to really settle in to a routine as a family with BabyB. Most everybody understands the adjustment it can be for you, and you have every right to protect those boundaries.

And I get the clean freak stuff. Although, now that I'm in my 40s and the aches and pains come along with every time I clean my house, I feel myself "letting go." ;)

Oh, and have a talk with MrB about what you need. My husband was GREAT when ours was little. Even though when he came home from work, he just wanted to play with the baby, he would ask me, "What do you need?" If I needed him to start supper, or put on a load of wash, or feed the baby - whatever - he did it right away, and it helped sooooo much!

You are so lucky, lol. When MrB gets home in the evenings it's nearly 7. He is usually stressed from the drive, and whatever happened at work that day. He is good about it, but between the time he gets home and BabyB goes to bed I really have just enough time to eat. Then when BabyB is in bed, I am just done for the day, LOL.

Weekends are better, b/c MrB helps then, but we have only gotten one weekend a month since BabyB got here. And it wouldn't be so bad but his parents live in Nashville, so they end up staying three or four nights when they come. My parents never spend the night. My brother is in Murfreesboro so he does at least one night. After their (in-laws) visit next week, I'm going to have to sit down with MrB and discuss this. It DOES stress me out. I feel like I have to be the perfect hostess, lol. I am just.... worn out. LOL

Hoarders (literally) gives me the creeps. I can watch it and it makes my skin crawl. I just got rid of a bunch of stuff. My truck was full on the way to the Goodwill place. We have 60 available hangers now, I counted them. This was just a start. It is amazing to me the way some people choose to live. I used to see it all the time at the Fire Department. Of course, the other side is the Chief says I would be perfectly happy to live in an empty house. Probably some truth to that.

it makes me sad to watch... I am in awe that people live that way

Why did you count them? LOL I know what you mean, I am almost the same way. The hubs *almost* is. He picks up stuff at garage sales and Goodwill he thinks he can sell on eBay. He does sell it, and it doesn't sit too long, but the result is a garage full of his finds. At least he has a lot of turn over. haha!

Yep, I counted them because there were suddenly so many. I didn't include the wire hangers (and the Chief doing her Joan Crawford imitation), there were at least 30 of those. They were thrown away. I'll have to look on ebay and see if any of that stuff shows up. I never thought about that. Seems like a lot of work.

Nothing wrong with that. I have bought a bunch of silver on ebay. To bad I'm not close, I have some things he could sell for me. I would make it worth his time. I don't have a clue on how that works.

I have a couple of thousand worth I'd like to sell. I haven't checked the price lately. My hobby was buying silver and now I have almost to much. It is very expensive to insure. I have a few collectibles, several hundred dollars worth (in the original boxes) I'd like to sell too.

What Did I Do Today?

Today I left some dishes dirty;
The bed got made around 3:30.
The diapers soaked a little longer,
The odor grew a little stronger.
The crumbs I spilled the day before,
Are staring at me from the floor.
The fingerprints there on the wall,
Will likely be there still next fall.
The dirty streaks on those windowpanes
Will still be there next time it rains.
Shame on you, you sit and say,
Just what did you do today?

I held a baby till she slept,
I held a toddler while he wept.
I played a game of hide and seek;
I squeezed a toy so it would squeak.
I pulled a wagon, sang a song,
Taught a child right from wrong.
What did I do this whole day through?
Not much that shows, I guess that' s true.
Unless you think that what I've done,
Might be important to someone,
With deep green eyes and soft brown hair,
If that is true . . . I've done my share.

Awwww, Honeybunny, I love that :love :love :love

It is so true. :love

I had planned to mop the kitchen floor and scrub the bathroom this morning,
but I ended up smashing play dough and playing with a huge cardboard box...
