I've always heard that if your Christmas tree and decorations are still up on New Years, you will have bad luck into the new year. I know what I'm doing Friday night or Saturday morning. I can prove this is a fact. I've seen the evidence.

I've heard the complete opposite. Ever since I was a kid, my parents kept their up through New Years, and now that I have my own tree, the tradition stands.

 :faint

We leave it up until the end of Epiphany (January 6) . As it should be. :)) ( The twelve days of Christmas start on Christmas Day, and they end on Epiphany.)

I have heard that to Callahan. I usually take mine down Christmas night..lol but was to busy this year to do it. Haven't been home one night since either and probably won't be home long enough to do it till Sunday afternoon so guess mine is staying up :tapfoot2

I can see that and have even thought about it. Since Christmas starts at Halloween now, I'm ready to be done with it. I want my uncluttered house back!

Isn't that the truth? It is crazy. By December if you need something it is all gone!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some Catholics even leave it up until Candlemas (February 2).

I've heard it both ways. Not sure which is true and can't remember what I did last year. :)) But, mine's already down. Just hasn't made the trip down the stairs yet.

However, today my boss is swearing I have bad karma. Although it's really good I don't actually believe in Karma. (Different story for another day :)) ) My refrigerator is going out, our TV died Friday before Christmas, my car ended up on the side of the road today, and we had sewer issues at work today. ::) Almost forgot, 2 weeks before Christmas the plumber had to install a new toilet.

All in all, I'd say I had a pretty blessed day, even though my first attempt at Cake Pops in my new bake pop pan didn't turn out so well. :whistle

We celebrate Advent and then put up our Christmas tree on 12/24 when Christmas starts. ;D ;D ;D We usually get a free or greatly reduced price on a beautiful tree...

Ahhhh..........it pays to be a Catholic..........

I have always been flexible on the putting up. Usually it is the second week of December. My child loves the holiday so much and will drive me crazy if we waited that long, plus with so many friends and family we have too many celebrations to attend to wait longer. :)) Up north we did have family that kept it up throughout Feb, but here they would just think I am weird. (well weirder LOL) I do think the take it down bad luck thing is an old wives tale, though I am not sure, just never heard of anyone taking down the tree before the Epiphany until I moved to Georgia.
