Microsoft released Wiindows 7 SP-1

Service packs generally catch you up on all the updates. It's sort of a mega-update. As such, if you haven't been doing the regular updates, it can take a while to download and install.

I checked it out with my Win 7 machine, apparently I have been doing a decent job keeping it updated as the service pack didn't take too long.

I had just installed it on my netbook and I had a virus come in over my aircard and screwed it up bigtime. I'll have to do a total wipe on it.

Wasn't caused by the SP, BTW. Something with the aircard.

There are a few "secret" fixes too, like improved support for HDMI audio and better dynamic memory allocation. But this isn't like XP or Vista where the first Service Pack was practically a new operating system. It is a worthwhile installation though.

I was unable to download and install it through Windows Update, ("Windows Update encountered an unknown error") and had to do a manual install.
