But congratulations to the San Francisco Giants, 2014 World Series Champions. And congratulations, Royals! Both teams were spectacular. WOW - what a post-season. The teams in the Series were both wild cards. Both teams played fundamentally-sound, hell-for-leather baseball. Both managers managed incredibly well. They took it to a Game 7; SF leading 3-2 - bottom of the 9th, Royals had the heart of their order up against the Giants' BEAST of an ace, Bumgarner. Two-out triple and Perez the great young catcher comes up. Pops up; caught by Sandoval, who may not be a Giant after this year. Bumgarner was the undeniable MVP. But all the Giants and all the Royals just played magnificently. I don't recall whenever I've enjoyed a post-season this much. FANTASTIC old-school baseball. The Royals have NOTHING to be ashamed of. They played every bit as well as the Giants, and but for a couple of things going their way, they could be the champions right now. Oh, my favorite new player is the Giants' 2nd baseman, Joe Panik. What a great kid. One additional thought - George Brett flat rocks a pink dress shirt. ;) This won't be the last we hear of Ned Yost and the Royals.

What a fantastic day for baseball. That. Was. AWESOME!!!

I saw a little of it when it was tied 2-2. When I heard about the outcome this morning I had Braves flashbacks :'(

Trust me - nothing about either team resembled the Braves. Those boys played flat out every minute of the game, and the managers made real managerial decisions (like putting a starting pitcher in relief, which Fredi Gonzalez refused to even put Kimbrel in relief the last time they had a post-season game).
