We took the grandson to the fair tonight, man my puppies are barking. I have to admit it seems a bit improved over previous years. They had a new Sea Lion show which was very entertaining, a hot air balloon "ride" (tied down with ropes) which was pretty cool to watch, and a beautiful tiger. Unfortunately they didn't do the "Tiger" show due to the cats being afraid of the hot air balloon. They showed the cats in the cages but didn't feel it was safe enough to have the trainer in the cage at the same time since they had been showing signs of nervousness with the balloon nearby. Honestly though, one of the tigers was the most beautiful animal I had ever seen. I could have sat and watched it for hours. They also had a new cable car ride which ran the length of the fairgrounds. We didn't ride it but it was an interesting addition. Anyhoo, the grandson enjoyed himself and of course we enjoyed watching him have fun. Shout out to the lady who ran the goldfish stand, she gave us additional ping pong balls to toss as our grandson kept missing the bowl and even though he didn't "win" she still gave him a fish which made his entire day. A random couple gave us their extra tickets for rides, they were leaving and didn't need them so they offered them to us. We had bought 20, they gave us 6. We had 2 left as we were leaving so our grandson gave them to another kid which made us proud grandparents.

Just don't waste the money on the cheese steak sandwiches, they were absolutely aweful, we tossed them.

I have always thought that the experience of going to the fair was....just fair.
:)

Did you see the chocolate dipped fried bacon?!

No kidding, the Sheriff's Office booth had it last year and is was sho-nuff NASTY! :sick :laugh

I'm glad you had a good time. I usually dog-out that fair but it's mainly because I've had to work it instead of enjoy it. I was thankful I didn't have to fool with it this year, only because of the headache the security aspect can be.

Not to be un-kind, but it is difficult for me to see the NGSF as anything more than a large carnival. I've been to the Ohio State Fair in years past. Now that's a real state fair.

We missed it this year. (And we won't be able to catch it here at the tail end.)

I love the fair, and so does my son. It's always a great date for the two of us. I'm sad. :(
