Not that we didn\'t already know this, but.......

Rolling down the highway
Liberals are less tolerant of other views on-line. Pew Research did a survey and kind of confirmed what we have known for quite some time.

But they claim just the opposite.

Oh, I know..........this needs to be shared, I've already posted it on two other message boards I visit. :snick_bunny

I consider myself fairly liberal or libertarian, if you must. I'm not intolerant of other points of view and belief, I'm intolerant when the believer attempts to limit my freedom by legislating their morality. I do not believe in an omnipotent god. I don't not subscribe to any religious dogma. Drugs should be legal. Any consenting adult should be allowed to marry any other consenting adult regardless of sex, race or religious affiliation. I respect the beliefs of others who hold an opposing view. There's nothing wrong with that. We can all believe differently. We should all have equal protection under the law. It's that simple.

You're more conservative than you like to admit. You're too business savvy to be a liberal on fiscal or economic matters.

Libertarian, perhaps but I don't view you as liberal. I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal.......so that puts me somewhere very close to center. I do believe in smaller government and I'm not just talking about the number of government employees.

I too respect the beliefs of others and understand they have the freedom to present their views in a civil exchange. I'm not one for name calling or taking a road that I know more or less than someone. I respect intelligent insightful discussion, in fact I enjoy it.

I've said this before, the Federal Government needs to get out of the marriage business and leave it up to individual states to handle marriage as they see fit. I'm no more comfortable having someone from California telling me in Georgia what I must and must not do, than you are having someone force their religious views on you.

Thanks for posting here Mark, I do enjoy reading your viewpoint. It reminds me to stay open minded and realize I'm not always "right". However, neither am I always "wrong".

You're exactly right. I'm very conservative about money and fiscal responsibility. I am wide ass open on social issues though. My philosophy is if it feels good do it. A LOT.

I find that most of us agree on more than we don't...most of us.

Even though our moral beliefs differ somewhat; we're probably more alike when it comes to liberties than you think. I don't like the government, especially the federal government, in my personal bidness anymore than is absolutely necessary.

Based on your posts here and on FB, I think Mark and I pretty much have the same stance in political issues. Mark, I'd never peg you as a liberal, lol.

Come out of the closet Mark.......you are a Libertarian. Not that there's anything wrong with that. stirthepot2

Is that what's in the closet?

Well it sure as hell isn't me. I left that dark, dank place 19 year ago and I sure as hell ain't going back.

I have shoes in my closet....just tossing that out there. :))

I have been unfriended because of my conservative stance on things and had to delete posts on my own wall because of people cussing others about their thoughts on topics. It is always (in my experience) my more liberal friends. I really just think they like to argue, because sometimes it has been really stupid. (Just a random post or picture and next thing my phone is blowing up with people arguing back and forth!) :dunno I don't mind anyone thoughts displayed in a conversation, but the ugly comments I will not have.

I've had the same thing with my conservative friends. I try to love everyone but some folks and threads have gone bye bye from my page as well. I can't tolerate it. It's my wall, I'll post what I want. And no, if I tell you to move along, you can't argue with me. I'll just block your ass. That doesn't mean I won't be polite in public and I might even still like you. I'm just not going to let a person run amok (amok, amok, amok, amok, amok) around me.

There are different types of "liberals".

1-What I call a true believer. These individuals are genuinely passionate people and they take liberal stances because they think it's the best way to help people. Their fault is that they don't always understand the illogical of their intent.

2-Idealists. These are your academics, etc who believe in all these grand Utopian ideals. They mean well. Problem is, these people are typically so removed from reality that they don't have a clue what it's like in the real world.

3-Political liberals. These are your union robots, people in parts of the entitlement programs, etc who are so brainwashed they are no longer capable of independent thought. These are usually the angry and combative bunch that we've all ran into.
