I consider myself fairly liberal or libertarian, if you must. I'm not intolerant of other points of view and belief, I'm intolerant when the believer attempts to limit my freedom by legislating their morality. I do not believe in an omnipotent god. I don't not subscribe to any religious dogma. Drugs should be legal. Any consenting adult should be allowed to marry any other consenting adult regardless of sex, race or religious affiliation. I respect the beliefs of others who hold an opposing view. There's nothing wrong with that. We can all believe differently. We should all have equal protection under the law. It's that simple.
Libertarian, perhaps but I don't view you as liberal. I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal.......so that puts me somewhere very close to center. I do believe in smaller government and I'm not just talking about the number of government employees.
I too respect the beliefs of others and understand they have the freedom to present their views in a civil exchange. I'm not one for name calling or taking a road that I know more or less than someone. I respect intelligent insightful discussion, in fact I enjoy it.
I've said this before, the Federal Government needs to get out of the marriage business and leave it up to individual states to handle marriage as they see fit. I'm no more comfortable having someone from California telling me in Georgia what I must and must not do, than you are having someone force their religious views on you.
Thanks for posting here Mark, I do enjoy reading your viewpoint. It reminds me to stay open minded and realize I'm not always "right". However, neither am I always "wrong".
