Prayer requests

Got word this morning that a long time "friend" lost her battle with cancer this morning. She was actually a customer of ours from a major manufacturing facility in Michigan, we've worked with her for over 25 years. She became more of a friend than a customer in recent years. Funny how it still leaves that empty feeling in the stomach even though I've never actually met her in person. Prayers for her family during their time of loss. RIP Melissa....your positive attitude and happy disposition will be missed by many.

Cancer sucks.

Hey GD, how is your friend David doing? Is he out of the hospital?
Thanks, I should have updated.

Yes, he is home and recovering. He was very different than I was toward the end. His lungs came back quicker, but he was so weak he couldn't walk after two weeks in the ICU. They had to send hm to rehab so he could get able to walk again, and he's still very limited on his strength.

But at least he made it.

My son-in-law's grandmother passed away Tuesday. She went in for what was supposed to be a fairly routine stint insertion, but somehow an artery was torn and within an hour she was dead.

The family is pretty upset and my oldest grand is taking it pretty hard.
I'm sorry to hear this. Prayers for him and his family.

Sorry to hear that, how old was she? The older one gets, the more dangerous non-invasive procedures become.
I was thinking that the older I get, my skin, that used to be tough, seems to be getting thinner, as I can see my veins. I'm often rushing to do things and I scrape the back of my hand or brush my leg against something and it actually breaks the skin.

Then I look at my mom and her skin is so delicate. I suspect our veins age that way too? I never thought about that and operations.

Most definitely, and after the age of 75, avoid a colonoscopy like the plague!

Oh wow... I was worried about that because they said I had diverticulitis back in 2019.

I had a colonoscopy 6 months later at the doctor's insistence. No signs of the diverticulitis. I think I was mis-diagnosed.

I read that they can puncture your colon, especially if you have something like diverticulosis so I was happy to wake up with a clean report, and the doctor that did the colonoscopy said see you in 10 years. I felt free. 2029 is closer, but I should be able to have 2 more in the next 20 years, then stop I guess.

Odd how the older I become, I find more medical things I need to be leery about. I almost think you stay healthier avoiding doctors.

I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy last November, which is now postponed until this October because I had the stints put in and am on blood thinners.

ETA: My left hand usually looks like this thanks to the blood thinners. It will do that just wringing put a washcloth.

Ohhhh... that looks annoying. What happened to our youth?

My veins pop up more, and now show green because I am not tan. (I try to stay out of the sun due to too many years of sun worshiping.)

I get bruises, that I hate to see, and red marks that then turn into regular bruises even thought like you said, it was not even that much of a bump or pressure. Bur right now I don't get the purple color yet. I am sure it is the blook thinners.

But right here we have the reason surgery for older adults becomes more serious, and for Guard Dad's family, they lost their sweet Great- Grandma.

RIP Great -Grandma:pray2:

Aging sucks.

If ya'll don't mind I'd appreciate a prayer for the Queen today. We're about to leave for her appointment to have a pin placed in her toe. I'm sure she'll make it through without any issues and she isn't worried or concerned at all. I'm silently a basket case but only because the last loved one I had who had a pin put in them was my mom after she fell and broke her leg. It got infected and eventually led to sepsis which contributed to her death in 2015. Granted she was sick with cancer and other health issues so her body was already weakened, but the fall and pin was her last injury.
