This has been coming on for years. I have not smoked weed in 35+ years but I know people who smoke. I consider myself a conservative but have a Libertarian streak on some social issues. I always thought weed should be legal but taxed and regulated much like alcohol. This would decrease strain on law enforcement and the prison system as well as increase tax revenue taking some strain off of the working man's paycheck. Let an individual make the choice if they want to smoke just like if they choose to drink. If they are driving impaired, fighting, DV, public intoxicated, under age, etc. prosecute them just like they do an individual that is drunk. As for the gateway drug argument there may be some validity but I think like everything else it depends on the individual. Bottom line people who want to smoke are going to smoke legal or not.
