Restaurant can\'t seem to get it together.

I wish they'd get it together, I really want a local place we can get good seafood at. I hear that the food is very good.

The Queen and I go to Captain D's occasionally to satisfy my hushpuppy craving. Recently we decided to go across the street to the Dallas Seasfood Co. to give it a try. Needless to say we were both disappointed. The place smelled and felt greasy, the service was slow (there was no crowd), the food was decent but the serving size was small for the price of the entree. We agreed to not go back, we prefer the Marietta Fish Market or just cook it at home.

I believe the Dallas Seafood Company had an inspection problem not long ago. Too bad they can't clean up their act.

Not to minimize, but if you actually read the report, there is very little here that would or could likely lead to a foodborne illness. Probably the worst was the presence of drain flies and ants, and cleaning surfaces with Lysol wipes instead of wipes made for food surfaces. I wouldn't let this report keep me from eating there if the food was good.

So out of compliance for food not being covered, proper dating, food residual on things, shellfish removed from original containers, and fish that they cannot provide documentation on would not keep you from eating there? I figured those things could make you sick. :dunno
I always read the reports because I understand not having a paper hanging in the right place can cause a violation, but not only that, this place has been dinged (bad) before. I just do not think they are up to restaurant standards.

Speaking of seafood places, has anyone tried the new place La Val (or something like that)? I noticed it was open as I drove by tonight, but haven't heard any feedback.

Sound Italian.

It's in the Place where Catfish Den and various other seafood places have failed.

We went in there early in their existence. The food was good but somewhat overpriced, and the service was horrendous. It was right after they opened, and we did say that we would give them another chance. We just haven't gotten around to it. I wish something would take there. it's very close to the house.

A few people I know went right before the new sign went up and they did not like it at all.

LTD is correct in that many of the so-called infractions are ridiculously minute. However, IMHO, there is NO EXCUSE for any food-service facility making under 95 on a food inspection. It's not rocket science...you just formulate a set of procedures to follow and then make sure people follow them.

It's hard enough to make money in a restaurant as it is. I sure wouldn't want to do anything that would case unflattering commentary about my business.

Ohhh, crap!
I live near GD, LTD and Diva??

"Honey! We have to move now!"

So you think you CAN move? :Ninja

I can move anytime I want to!
Nobody tells me where I have to live!

Now if I want to take my stuff and my money.......that's a different story.
