This is a new development

The Dianne Write Innovation center, formerly the old PB Ritch School, will open tomorrow for early voting.

Nice. I'm hoping the lines are shorter by next week. I need time to review the ballots anyway.

Every general election has people trying to read the admendments and figure out what they mean in the booth... it always slows the process down.

So here's my question: Why do people early vote?

Not that I'm against it, I'm not. I'm actually for any legal and secure method of voting but I'm just curious why people would early vote instead of going on the traditional election day? For example, I know GD's daughter is expecting a new baby arrival so that makes perfect sense for her to early vote.

Go....

I suspect most the early voters are the "never-trumpers" and "never-Bidens". They know they won't change their minds and just want to make sure they vote, even if they die before election day.

I usually early vote because I don't know if I'll be traveling so I make sure to vote while I'm home. Also, usually the lines are very short, so i don't have to worry about waiting in lines like I see on election day itself.
Of course this year, I'm wondering if I should wait and see what percentage ends up early voting... if very high, it might end up the election day lines, with there being many more locations may be the shorter days.

To avoid the election day mess. We're probably looking at record turnout this time.

I actually think early voting is not a good thing. It lets people vote before all the debates are done and the campaigns are over.

A better plan would be to have more polling places so voters can get in and out on election day.

People who have a lot of unexpected appointments as in grandkids, kids and sick relatives might vote early rather than take a chance on an emergency coming up on election day. Better safe than sorry, so to speak.

Yes, but it also dilutes the effectiveness of last minute mud slinging ads. They either have to get them out 3 weeks ahead, which allows the slingee to get a response out, or they miss all the early voters.

I guess I’m just an old traditionalist. I have no reason to vote early or by absentee. Our voting location is one mile from my doorstep, I’ll be there at 6:45 and will wait as long as possible. The most important thing is to make sure you vote.

I voted today at the main courthouse...less than 25 minutes. I'd say vote early and in person!

No candidates were listed for Coosa River soil and water conservation supervisor.....what the heck is that? I wrote in my own name, but honestly have no idea why no one ran for that position or even what that position does.

Dunno what they do, but there are two of them. One appointed and one elected.

Ok, found this from Floyd county:

Notice is hereby given that on November 6, 2018, a non-partisan election will be held to elect 1 supervisor(s) for Floyd County in the Coosa River Soil and Water Conservation District. District Supervisors serve as unpaid state officials who represent their counties in support of soil and water conservation activities.

It being an unpaid position explains why nobody is running for it.
