T Splost Meeting Tonight

At the Dallas Theater, I believe. We had someone from the Midtown Alliance come to our office to talk about it - he didn't impress me enough to change my vote.

Thanks Lisa, you were posting at the same time as I was. Dallas Theater it is!!

Imma go and holler, "YOU LIE!" every time they say something. 'Cause I'm helpful like that. :D

Seriously what the heck is this West Dallas Bypass they are talking about?? Is this the toll road resurrected?? Yea, I'm definitely voting NO!!

Fellow highwayers, according to the "intel" I got, this "meeting" is being hosted by the Paulding Chamber and unless we voice some opposition, it'll be nothing more than a pro T-Splost pep rally.

That was my take on it as well.

That's exactly what our meeting with the rep from the Midtown Alliance was - they were just trying to draw people in to increase support for it.

I know this is just a crazy coincidence, but this meeting conflicts with a Republican event that will have the governor in attendance.

Hello all,

I attended this and quite honestly I had to leave early. At the Senate debate about a month ago I said...why would you build a road (Macland) that could be 4 lanes in one county and then abruptly turn into 2 lanes at the county line? Tonight the panel answered they had some additional funds if the TSPLOST wasn't passed in both areas. Really? Additional funds, huh.

Next question, who would decide that the projects would be adequately funded? Answer... A board. Who selects the board? I wonder? Who do you think selects the board? Let me ASK YOU AGAIN. Who do you think selects the board? Elected officials? What if you have $1 to donate to an elected official? What happens when you have $2,500 to donate to an elected official? Do you think your odds increase? With me you will have an equal opportunity to COMPETE for projects like this even if you don't have a lot of money to donate to a campaign.

How much money are we talking about in Senate District 31? If you include all of Paulding County, Haralson and Polk County...$267,000,000. That is pretty lucrative. Two hundred sixty seven million dollars. I bet someone could really do well if they could get a project or two. Actually, if I was a contractor and I made $1,000,000 on one contract that would be equal to 40 years of working for some of our Firefighters etc. People that are stuck working minimum wage, like many of our people are, would take nearly 60 years to make a $1,000,000.

So, when we finish paying for these projects we can stop paying the tax. NO!!! This is a 10 year tax. Just so I am communicating. If we pay and complete the projects ahead of schedule we still have to
pay the tax unless the board says differently.

What I have said all along is we need to get $1 or more of value for the $1 we spend. Why do we have the need to make it a 10 year tax? That gives a lot of power to a board that you DONT elect!!!

I am totally for infrastructure improvements, new roads, a TOTAL transportation plan. I want to vote yes to the transportation improvements that we need, but, this is not it.

You will get answers that sound good to the above listed questions but, do the math and play close attention. Don't let someone through a bunch of numbers and confusing data at you to confuse you.

You need information on issues and I am going to get that for you. I am NOT asking you to say yes or no to the TSPLOST. I am only asking you to be informed. Please take a look at the available information, do the homework and ask questions that make a difference for you and your family.

When people get involved we ALL win!

I know I should have gone. But, I was just too tired for a pep rally, and I'm pretty firm in my no.
