The music DOES matter

I love all music that praises God!! But here is the kind of music we have at our Latin Rite Church, this hymn from the ninth century. My eldest daughter is planning to get a degree in this kind of music from Ave Maria University.

In case you all didn't know, I sang at the funeral for Southern Gospel Music. I fought and fought for it for over 20 years and am now done. IMHO, my problem with most congregations now is that there is no room for both. That's a bunch of bunk if you ask me.
Harmony takes WORK. Choirs don't want to do it any more and singing groups don't either. Why bother when everyone can sing together in unison. Good singing doesn't mean yelling at the top of your lungs or sounding like your tripped out on a Valium low.
Just keep in mind that the music you enjoy and grew up with will be old hat to your grandchildren and will be replaced with some other form of "music". AND, they'll have no room for your "old" stuff. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Whatever floats everyone's boat. I don't have a dog in the fight anymore. I sang my song, fought the good fight and laid a rose on the grave of Southern Gospel Music about 2 years ago. :Ninja

That's cool, GD. Gates Nichols, who played steel guitar with CR, went to our church up until his death. He had a neat story, and was such a blessing right until the end. He had also subbed at my oldest's school and really made an impact. It's a neat thing when these musicians make as much of an impact with their lives as they do with their music!
