The USPS is shutting down mail-sorting machines crucial for processing absentee ballots as the 2020 election looms

Of course, just in time to ask for more money. I just heard talk of Dems wanting multi-billion dollar funding for them, I wonder why now?

The Democrats aren't concerned about the USPS getting ballots to voters on time or even returning them to election bureaus on time because they most likely have a backup plan. That plan is most likely already having thousands of ballots for every voting precinct in blue states already filled out voting for their candidates. They would have some explaining to do when more voters vote than what were registered.

The Dems know that even though Biden is leading in most polls, he will most likely lose. Clinton led Trump with higher numbers and she lost. They know both Biden and Harris are seriously flawed candidates and this election is going to come down to the economy. Your intelligent voters are going to see this downturn in the economy is due to the pandemic, which nobody could have prevented; although the Democrats are trying to paint a picture that it could have been. The Democrats are desperate right now and they will use desperate measures to try to win this election.

I realize this is a bit Q Anon sounding, but I really do think that if Trump is reelected, the gloves come off and a lot of people in and connected to our government will be going to jail.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I've seen articles that say these machines are moved often to follow mailing patterns and that they only sort regular size envelopes. They wouldn't be used to sort oversize envelopes.

I think that Abrams was a test of losing a close election and claiming victory due to fraud and no matter what the delay in mail in ballot and college counts are *both* sides will declare victory early and start acting as if they are/will continue to be president and this is going to be a massive mess.

The courts will likely end up determining this one and if Trump comes out winning, the Libs will go Bat Crap Crazier than they are now.

Judge orders new election after voter fraud.

More voter fraud.

Pelosi called Massie a "dangerous man" for forcing a vote on the trillion dollar spendulus bill during a pandemic. She then calls the House back to vote to force the post office to do what they just said they would do in the first place....during the same pandemic.

Excellent!

I wonder if this is a preview of the 2020 presidential race?

Here's what I'm thinking the strategy is. The Dems know if ballots were mailed to the vast majority of voters; they couldn't all be possibly counted before inauguration day. This would mean Trump would no longer be president and Pence VP on that date. Since both would have to vacate their offices, this would make the Speaker of the House president. If the mail-in voting were to occur in every blue state, Trump would be filing lawsuits in each of those states. This too could prevent the elections from occurring until the suits are settled by the courts, which could take months; especially since they are blue states. This too would put Pelosi in the WH. Pelosi wants to be president, but doesn't want to run because she knows she would lose.

I've read different articles on this that say different things. Here is what someone posted on another forum that sounds reasonable based on the other stuff I've read.

Delay would be unconstitutional, UNLESS congress passed, and President Trump signed, a bill changing the date that states must certify their results/electors for the electoral college. That date takes place in December of 2020.

In effect, President Trump would have to, in all likelihood, remove HIMSELF from office by agreeing to sign such a law. Either that, or enough Republicans in congress would have to decide to throw the Presidency to Biden by overriding a Presidential veto.

The way the selection process for the Presidency (and Vice Presidency) works is that if no one gets the required number of electoral votes, then the House and Senate will select the President and Vice President, respectively, from among the top 2 vote getters for each office.

It is important to know that the house votes along STATE lines, so despite currently having more representatives, the Democrats make up the majority of house seats in a minority of the 50 states. The Senate simply votes as normal.

As currently constituted, the U.S. House and U.S. Senate votes for the President and Vice President would BOTH be controlled by the GOP.

Unless the Democrats have a killer performance and add enough house seats to their current ones, in key places to take the majority in a few more states, President Trump would have no incentive to sign, and Republicans in congress no incentive to pass, a law changing the date by which electoral votes must be certified, which again, is in December of this year. The new congress in January will merely TALLY those votes. They cannot alter that tally by allowing any state who refused to certify results by the deadline to add their electoral votes in. And the states most likely to have delay issues are the ones most likely to deny BIDEN 270 electoral votes - example #1 would by California. In a scenario where Trump wins the election anyway, he probably does so even if there are states who cannot certify. None of the large red states like Texas are likely to have delay problems.

If this is correct, chances are Trump would remain POTUS.

Whomever wins the other side will contest the results in court. Guaranteed. That's what all this posturing is about. First they will challenge the purple state results and then the totals. Problem is that when a state certified their results, that's that. The best way to stop the challenges is to certify as early as possible. That's how Florida finally stopped the insanity in 2000, they just said they weren't playing anymore.
