Tornado-ravaged airport finishes restoring main terminal

There's more land, near me, connected to the movie studio venture. Of course, if George Clooney needs a place to spend the night, I'm all in. :D

I can see the airport as being beneficial, but the more I read about the MG company that is here, the less happy I am about it.

I hope the airport will be beneficial. Hey, it's built and there.......let the profits come in. MG Co??? What is that?

I'm glad the airport repairs are coming along. I look at the airport as an asset to Paulding's future economic growth. Small airports always help to attract industrial business. I think once we begin to see our economy make some serious improvements, we will see industrial growth take place in Paulding County that will offer good paying jobs. It's a shame we have those who voice such hatred towards having the airport and have their facts all screwed up on how we were able to obtain it with FAA funding.

IMO I believe most of the "hatred" comes from the fact that the voters turned down the idea twice, but the admin went ahead with the project. To add insult to injury, Jerry was quoted many times the airport would not cost the taxpayers anything

Hear, hear, sirrah!

I still maintain that risking taxpayer dollars to build facilities for
private industry is not the proper role of a limited government.

Preach on, libertarian sistah!

I think there is a lot of confusion on that whole vote thing. The citizens of Paulding were never voting on whether or not to have an airport in the county yet many seem to belief that is exactly what they were voting on. Now the cost thing ... that I understand.

And Jerry was right. The "airport" did not cost the County anything. The County did spend some money out of pocket and was later reimbursed by the FAA. There was some admin costs and road improvements, plus water and sewer but the "airport" was paid for in total by the FAA.

The airport is already producing some income and there are a lot more planned for expansion that will produce more income. Not to mention all the unrelated businesses being attracted to the area.

As the economy continues to improve, more businesses will be coming. It was never said that it would happen overnight. It was stated it will take 10 to 15 years before we really see the benefits.

Exactly. The votes were for allowing the County to pay for it in full by using bonds. The votes had nothing to do about having the airport here.

In fact, the airport was a dead deal after the last vote. It was the FAA that came to Paulding officials about resurrecting the deal and to pay for it's construction.
