What Cell Phone Service Do You Use?

I checked my AT&T account online today and noticed my contract with them had expired. That's great news because I can't stand them. I had Cingular, who I didn't have a problem with. Shortly after AT&T took over, my signal at the house dropped significantly; sometimes I couldn't get a signal. I started getting dropped calls all the time. There were so many areas within the state I couldn't get a signal. I suspended my account the day I left the States for here and they were to charge me only $10 a month. Last month I received a bill from them for $111.

I'm looking for a new service. Any recommendations?

We are with AT&T. The main reason we stay with them is because my whole family is with them and so it doesn't take any of my, or their, minutes to talk to them.

We're AT&T here too ... mainly because most family/friends are with them so it is free/doesn't burn minutes but also because we know that we have coverage out at the property and I'd hate to find out the hard way that another carrier would leave us with no signal out there. And we had the same experience ... Cingular was fine, AT&T has not been very good. Way too many changes in way too many areas here by the house. And there have been so many times that calls don't come in when we're home. We can call out but incoming calls don't get through. That's not ok. :rant

We're AT&T and it works best for us. They changed systems a few years back and their coverage suffered for awhile until they built more towers. All-in-all, it's good now.

We did have a lot of billing issues with them for awhile, but that seems to have straightened out too. We have a corporate account for the business, and they jump through hoops for us, give us free stuff, etc.

If data speed is important to you, At&T has an edge there over Verizon. And AT&T uses GMS system which utilizes sim cards in most phones. I like being able to switch phones just by swapping the cards. You can't do that on Verizon.

Verizon probably has the best overall coverage in the country. And they seem to have the broadest selection of phones.

T Mobile is very good in most areas. I'm disappointed that AT&T wasn't able to merge with them, I think it would have been good. And they use the same GSM system.

Sprint/Nextel is OK. Nextel ticked me off years ago, and Sprint's coverage is not quite what the others are. But they do have very fast data speeds.

Really it just depends where you are and need to use your phone. All of these have areas, especially in Paulding, where their service is poor. Oddly, Verizon is probably worst of the four in Paulding, even though they might be the best nation wide.

I think they will all give you a 30 day trial. I would definitely utilize that before getting locked in.

You should probably factor in who you talk to the most and what provider they use. All AT&T calls, for example, are in-network to any other AT&T cell phone, meaning they don't go to your minutes. And you can pay a small fee and make AT&T landlines in-network. I think the others have similar "in-network" plans.

And then there is bundling, which sometimes pays off and sometimes doesn't. You might can bundle your cell service with landline and internet, even TV programming. You just gotta run the numbers and compare.

We have AT&T. Our plan with them is expensive (or it seems that way to me) but we have unlimited everything. The Chief and I both have iPhones, tied to the same account. That is offset some since we don't have a home land line. I've been told to switch to Verison, we would have to get new phones, so we are handcuffed to AT&T to some degree. By the same token, we really haven't had a problem with them. I just wish they would stop sending their newsletters and junk mail to me all the time. I don't do auto pay, dammit!

I have an iPhone as well. Maybe I'll just keep AT&T awhile longer without a contract and then when they do something to tick me off threaten to cancel. I'm in no hurry because I won't be switching until I'm home for good. I'm really tired of the service by my house.

I use Verizon. I've had AT&T, which was ok, but I like Verizon MUCH better. There was only one time last summer in extreme S/SW Colorado where we couldn't get cell service. And we traveled through some REMOTE areas, let me tell you.

We switched from TMobile to AT&T about two years ago. I loved TMobile and had been a customer with them starting back when they were Powertel. The customer service with Tmobile was wonderful. We switched to AT&T because I wanted an iPhone and because our corporate discount at work makes AT&T less expensive than TMobile. BUT, I haven't been disappointed. My coverage area has improved, data speeds seem to be better than TMobile (that may just be the iPhone vs. my old Blackberry), customer service has been great (both on the phone and in store) and the guys in the Douglasville AT&T store helped me decided on which iPad to get the hubby for Christmas and then told me to get it from Best Buy because of a promotion that Best Buy had at the time (free gift card w/purchase).

I have Sprint and am overall very pleased. I have 4G (in the areas its available) and unlimited EVERYTHING! I can call ANY cell phone, regardless of carrier, with no charge to my phone minutes. 7pm to 7 am are free times. The phones are great (they now have the iphone, which I have NO intention of getting) and I love my android! Customer service through the 800 number can, at times, be tricky, but almost everything can be taken care of at the Sprint store in Hiram and those guys are great!

I have a couple of areas that I travel through where for about 2 seconds I don't have service, but everywhere else (in my travels) service is fine. Even had great service on a road trip to FL.
