16 teenagers arrested for vandalism at East Paulding High

Seems like a school "prank" has ended in the arrest of 16 teens at EPHS. From what I gather, 14 are Seniors. Apparently, they were going to spray paint the intersection in front of the school and it got out of hand. I don't know exactly what happened but it appears some of the kids started painting the school property. Reports are saying they will be arraigned in the morning.

Young folks can be stupid sometimes. What a shame.

Yep. Some of these kids had bright futures ahead of them. I don't know how this is going to affect it.

If they want to keep them they need good lawyers. I am not joking.

From what I understand, it was a lot more than just those stated above. I think there were 14 "adults" (18 year olds) and at least just as many minors.

Truly, I'm shocked that many kids would do something like this.

Kids will follow a bad leader sometimes. The price can be high.

I read this on Facebook on our way home from (the kids) skating and dinner. It is so very sad, but we used it as an opportunity to reinforce to our children that they had better NEVER be involved in something like this. Luckily for them, the ride from the restaurant in Hiram to our home was only about 10-15 mins. :)) I need for my children to know they are strong enough to say NO in situations like this, it doesn't matter who is asking them to be involved.

As much as some may disagree, a good attorney in a situation like this is crucial! This could RUIN the rest of their lives. Was it an extremely STUPID choice, YES! Should it be life changing? Let a judge decide.

I just saw the WSB report on this, these kids did a lot of damage to the school. Sorry, but being young and stupid is no excuse and they deserve to be arrested. Hell, I hope their parents let them send the night in jail before getting them out!

Did they deserve arrest? Yes. I'm not excusing youth and stupidity.

A friend of mine subs at EP frequently. He is also a minister. He went to the jail earlier today to see if they would allow him to visit with any of the students (he often does that with other teens in trouble.) Today, they wouldn't allow it. He said he met many of the parents there, and a few other students were there turning themselves in. He also said he heard an officer say they would release them all tonight.

Same thing happened in Rome a couple of years ago at the best county high school...IIRC, they did crap (editing to add I mean spray painting and stuff, not literally crap...hahahaha) on the inside as well. Stupid idiots...they were still there going at it when the popo pulled up. Arrested a pack of them, as in this instance, and some of them were indeed in deep doo-doo legally.

I can tell you without one single doubt that if I or my siblings had done something like this, we would have been PRAYING the popo got us before our parents did. Trust me on that.

Believe me we talked about this also. Son knows a couple of the kids and IF is right, more than just stated were involved. Senior pranks are fun and cute, (last year some seniors at South put up "For Sale" signs! :)) ) not damaging to the school, other property, and possibly your whole life!
I hope these parents do not think they are just going to get off and have it deemed an "innocent" prank. They need lawyers.
The board is also deciding what they are going to do as school punishment. This just possibly cost some of them their diplomas.

My father would have beat me senseless had I participated in something like this in high school. I think you're right Diva about some will probably not not receive their diploma after this. Others may get their diploma, put will most like not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the arrested have any scholarships they were granted revoked because of it as well.

What the heck were they thinking?

I saw this on the news last night. It's going to be a very sad situation because you know that whatever punishment the school and BOE hands down, parents are going to be screaming about how unfair it is...

I'm not so sure I would have been alive to make it to my own court date, after only getting out of jail because my grandmother (not my parents) felt sorry for me, bailed me out, and dragged me to the car by my ear while simultaneously beating me with her bible.

So.not.joking.

Like Fox, I knew there would be consequences if I did something like that. My dad was a fairly influential guy around the county, but he also made it clear to me that if I did something stupid and got locked up, I would rot in jail.
