:wut. Are those protesting parents expecting monetary payment?

She said, these kids are suffering. They'll graduate reading on 5th grade level. Somebody needs to pay.

That's not verbatim. But I really took her comments to mean cash, not justice.

I did hear that comment, but never even considered that she was talking about money. I considered it as justice. Should I take my rose colored glasses off? (I did hear someone, whether a parent or the reporter, I am unsure, calling for some of the board members seats prior to her comment, so maybe I was taking that into account when I heard her.)

You know this is probably only the tip of the iceberg and goes on in more places than just Atlanta. And people talk about police corruption ::)

I'll try and find the video later and let others weigh in. I hope I took it wrong.

I heard again this morning and after her "someone needs to pay" comment, she adds "its just that simple".

I say that last night and thought the exact same thing!! I see a class action in APS's future.

I will be very disappointed if it is money they want. Now, if they demand private tutoring or a place to get their children caught up I would not have as big an issue. (Though I will say they should have been involved a lot sooner if their child is not reading, but that is a whole other issue.)

See! It's NOT just me! ::whew:: I really do see that happening.

One Mom mentions that her son's test scores dropped 50 points. I say they re-test EACH child that MAY have been effected. Compare their scores to the "cheat test" scores and if there is a significant difference, those children get some sort of special attention (tutoring, etc) so they can be brought up to where they need to be. I do not believe passing out checks to effected families will provide these children their academic needs.

I agree, but based on more of the comments that I am hearing, these people want money more than they want to improve their child's education.

So while the cheating was absolutely wrong and those involved need to be dealt with harshly I can't help but wonder where these angry parents were during the rest of their child's education. Why did their child need to be helped in such a manner? And how could these parents seriously not know that their kid was doing so poorly?

It's sad, but I'm thinking they were not even remotely interested in whether their children were doing well or not until someone said, "they should pay." :tapfoot2

Probably gonna pay better than a "scratcher" from the local liquor store.

My son saw the report last night and said "why is everyone so angry?". My husband said "because cheating is wrong". He said "I sure wouldn't mind someone helping me".

Ironic that some of the parents, of children who were cheated, appear to be motivated by the same thing as the perpetrators... greed.

:(
