Most of us have had them, so let's post them. I had a doozy!
Before moving to Paulding w lived in a very middle class subdivision in Austell. This dude moved in next door to me, I knew he was weird from day one. He nailed all the doors and windows shut where his family could only enter/exit through the garage door. Then he built a 6' wood fence around the entire house, and put two rottweilers in it. He abused the dogs to make them mean, and was successful. These dogs barked 24/7, I didn't get a good night's sleep for months. Our daughter couldn't play in the back yard because the dogs were so powerful they would literally run through the fence and knock the boards off. The mail lady wouldn't even get out of the truck when she had a package for us. The dogs almost hurt some of the neighborhood children. Some very close calls!
We called animal control for months and they kept saying they couldn't do anything unless THEY caught the animals out of the fence. Finally, some of the neighbors and I decided we'd had enough and we called animal control to tell them we were taking matters into our own hands and killing the dogs. Sure 'nuff, one of their trucks showed up a few minutes later, and we blocked the road so he couldn't leave. We told him we demanded a resolution that day, one way or another. Well, the animal control agent finally agreed to pull into the guy's driveway and wait awhile to see if the dogs would get out of the fence. Bingo! He pulled into the driveway and got out of the truck, and the dogs ran through the fence and tried to attack him.
Admittedly, there was some gratification on our part as we watched the animal control dude on top of his truck screaming for us to call 911. But I did call in and told them one of their guys was in danger.
Withing minutes, we had animal control, police, and two fire engines (dunno what that was about) out there and to say that they were pissed is an understatement. The dogs left that day, never to return, and the guy got a huge fine.
About a month later the guy went missing, and they found him in a closet at his workplace dead from a heart attack. Steroid use; he was a bodybuilder and he was juicing. Trying to be good neighbors, we went to his wife and offered to help in any way we could. It was then that we found out that the guy beat her daily and sexually assaulted his own young daughter.
It seems the old saying is true; what comes around goes around.
