Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

Get the jab. It looks like a lot of us old farts will be covered this time, so at least hospitalizations and deaths should be significantly less this wave.
Scheduled next week. I figure between having the virus and getting the vax too, I should be pretty much covered for at least the rest of the year. Let 2022 take care of itself.

I'm not sure why they don't just have a que. Call, tell them how far you are willing to travel, and when you are next and an appointment is available in your prescribed radius it's yours. That would stop the endless attempts to register. You computer geeks need to get right on that.

What if you aren't available at the allotted appointment time/day? Also, some people prefer drive through locations and some 'shop around' to get a specific vaccine. I guess all that could be factored in and part of the original questions to get into the queue (except perhaps the time/day since that would be unknown until a slot was available).

Another reason scheduling can be difficult is there are so many places to get the vaccines that aren't government related. Kroger, Publix, Wal-Mart, and many pharmacies are doing vaccines too.

yeah, I started looking at Kroger, but none of them had appt for the second shot available and they won't give you just a single appt.

Then I hit Walgreens and they had appts galore. Got one for Wed on Sunday Night. I still haven't gotten a single email from the govt site yet.

The biggest problem we found was the initial communication. Phone calls would ring endlessly or immediately switch to a full voice mail. Then the attempts to go online to Jim Miller Park when the 'Window' was open met with a flooded server which eventually timed out your connection. By the time we got through, all of the appointments were gone. When we finally got our appointments at the health department we couldn't get a hard second shot date. We waited and waited for them to call, then just went up there a stood in line. It turns out that the people making the calls were too busy answering calls, to call people back with the follow up shot time.
They would really need to borrow the call answering system of something like Amazon to pull this deal off efficiently.

I will say that the Gilmer Co Health Department was excellent. I got mine early on directly through them. The lines were busy but I was persistent. I even caught an accidental publishing of the first online sign up.

The ladies are just wonderful here. An elderly gentleman was complaining on the local FB page last week that he hadn't been able to get his shot and now everyone else was trying. One of the ladies, using her personal FB account, responded with her number and extension at the health department, and told him to call her directly the next day and she would help him find an appointment. She did.

Even Mrs.LTD had a good experience over in Dalton. She just kept going to the website every couple of hours and caught an appointment in two days. They were great there too, no wait.

I guess it's one of the perks of a small town.

BMI is BS.

Remember when I was all ripped?
