Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

It's all bull shit The liberal politicians have seen a drop in people getting the vaccine and they are trying to scare up some compliance.

Remember, the ones who have gotten the vaccine were those elderly, like my mom, who could easily die. Now those getting Covid do not necessarily die or need the hospital.:

LA has 10 million people. .004% are hospitalized... it's bull shit.

Los Angeles County has been recording more than 1,000 new cases each day for a week, and there is now “substantial community transmission," Davis said. On Thursday, there were 1,537 new cases, and hospitalizations have now topped 400.

San Francisco has one of the highest overall vaccination rates in the nation's most populated state. At least 83% of residents 12 and older have received at least one dose.

Meanwhile, north of San Francisco, at least 59 residents at a homeless shelter have tested positive for the virus. Of those infected at the Santa Rosa shelter, 28 were fully vaccinated, Dr. Sundari Mase, Sonoma County’s health officer, said Wednesday. Officials were reviewing an additional 26 possible positive cases.

Now, hospitalizations in California are above 1,700, the highest level since April. More than 3,600 cases were reported Thursday, the most since late February, but a far cry from the winter peak that saw an average of more than 40,000 per day.

HOMELESS SHELTER:
Of those with confirmed infections at Samuel L. Jones Hall, nine were hospitalized, including six who were fully vaccinated and had “multiple, significant” underlying health conditions, including diabetes and pulmonary disease, health officials said.

Fewer than half of the shelter's 153 residents had received at least a partial vaccination, officials said, and they don't know if the outbreak started with a vaccinated or unvaccinated resident.

“We know congregate settings are at much higher risk,” Mase said. “We also know there is a very high proportion of unvaccinated individuals that were in this setting.”

Most of the 69 vaccinated residents had received the single-shot Johnson & Johnson dose, but Mase said it was hard to determine whether that was a factor in the outbreak.

LA County is reporting 1,000 new cases a day for a week. That would be 7,000 new cases for the week and hospitalizations topped 400. That's 6% of the people who tested positive are hospitalized. 10.04 million people live in LA County with 7,000 new cases. That's .0007% out of 10 million with covid. That's nothing.

Delta is more easily transmitted. Nobody wearing masks or social distancing any longer.
Don't have time to read everyone's responses, but what is the reason for the drastic increase?
The amount testing is lower, so the amount positive is a higher percentage of total tested.

If 100 people go test and 3 people are positive, you have a 3% positivity rate
If only 3 people test and all 3 are positive you have a 100% positivity rate.

If yesterday 3 people were diagnosed with covid, then today 6 people are diagnosed it is a spike of 200%! Yikes... but it is still only 6 people, not much to worry about if you live in a city of 3.5 million.

Also, there do not seem to be deaths associated with these new cases... why are we in a panic if the virus has mutated to a less deadly variety.

There seems to be only about 3 possible outcomes for this virus.
1. You can get vaccinated and be protected from the worst of the disease. Or die from the vaccine.

2. You can get the disease, survive, and be protected from the worst of the disease in the future. Or die from the disease.

3. You can hide from the disease, and probably get it sometime in the future, unless enough people go through options 1 and 2 above first. If enough people do 1 and 2, then the disease may be effectively eradicated.

I've been reading a lot on this, and there seems to be a lot of people in the medical industry who believe the antibodies and T-cells (we haven't heard much about the latter) will last a long time, and offer much better protection than the vaccine.

As recently as I had the WuFlu (and a bad case of it at that, which might give strong protection against reinfection), I feel like I'm OK for the time being, anyway. I will continue to study the situation and make an informed decision.
