ESTIMATED JACKPOT $640 MILLION (**amount edited ... AGAIN**)

No one would ever know I won. And most of you would never see or hear from me again except when little anonymous gifts showed up at your door.

I'm pretty sure it's written into the terms of the lottery that you have to agree to be photographed and they use your image/name in publicity. However, you could mitigate that somewhat by not claiming it for awhile, and getting advise from a lawyer, etc. I certainly would do it that way. I would NEVER want anyone to know I won/had that much money, BUT like I said, I'm pretty sure they would make you agree to have your pic taken, name published, etc. :(

Different states have different rules but I believe Georgia does allow winners to remain anonymous. I don't think the folks that won in Mableton (or wherever in that area along I-20 it was) ever did identify themselves.

Even if they don't technically, there are ways around it. :Ninja

Yeah, she did. It was a black lady who's an accountant somewhere. She seemed VERY responsible and sensible in the AJC piece I read on her a little while back. She was so cute...she said she wasn't going to change anything except hire a financial adviser and move because now everyone knows where she lives. She was cute.

If allowed, I MOST DEFINITELY would remain anonymous.

How? By forming a foundation or incorporating and have a lawyer make the claim for you? Or some other way?

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

And yes, I realize I said she was cute twice. Ze brain, she is not workink well tonight.

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

LLC ... Of course that paperwork is public record too but you could use attorneys to help hide you.

10-4. That's what I'd do. I'd be goin' to ground. ;)

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

If they didn't let you stay annonamoose I would claim it, and when they ask what I was gonna do with all of it I would look directly into the camera and say....I know one thing I won't be doing...giving any to my greedy family or friends from 20 years ago so DON'T CALL ME! Then I would change all my numbers and go into hiding =) :laugh :laugh

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

I believe that one of the conditions precedent to receiving the money is that you allow the use of your name, picture, etc. to be used. My bigger concern in winning would be the protection of the princess's identity and image. I guess I better get her picture off of FB before the next drawing (assuming I remember to buy a ticket).... :))

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

Somewhere between LLC and/or blind trust ... who is the picture going to be of? :Ninja

Take as many pictures of my lawyer(s) as you like. :))

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $500 MILLION

If I were to win, I would consult with an attorney before I collected my prize. I'd want to find some possible way to keep my anonymity. I would definitely have all my banking arrangements made before I went to collect as well. As soon as I departed from claiming my prize, I would go directly to the airport where I would fly someplace where nobody knew me and have all my family flown there as well. A trust would also be established for each of my children and grandchildren. I would not give 10% to a church. Instead, I would establish a foundation that would help mission work.

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $540 MILLION (**amount edited**)

Here's some advice I received from one of my attorneys - DON'T sign your name on the back of the ticket, talk to your financial adviser and establish an LLC, make the check payable to the LLC for tax purposes, not to you as an individual.

In the meantime ... tell ABSOLUTELY NO ONE about the win and get the ticket into a SDB or your own fireproof safe.

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $540 MILLION (**amount edited**)

Another piece of good advice... hide out for a month or two
and get your financial plan in perfect order before you claim.

(Not so sure I would want to win as I would not
be able to sleep peacefully for a very long time...)

We bought a $5 ticket today... good luck everybody.

Re: ESTIMATED JACKPOT $540 MILLION (**amount edited**)

I have to admit I bought my first lottery ticket in 2 years. I just couldn't help myself. :Stick

We will buy a $5 ticket 2-3 times per year when there is a huge jackpot... cheap fun entertainment.

Oh, yeah.

Now up to $640M with a cash option of $462M

Absolute insanity. And what is so disturbing is that you just know that there are people spending money they don't have on this. A few bucks on a dream, go for it. Money that should be going to the mortgage or diapers, stop the insanity!
