Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died

I have serious doubts that he will be able to get his pick through in 7 weeks. The crap will be flying and the Dems will pull out every stop. If you think they abused Kavenaugh, just wait.

As for the lady herself, what she did throughout her career for women's rights was foundational. I actually agreed with her on VMI, that women are good leaders and woman graduates would make VMI proud. I rarely agreed otherwise, but she was indeed a smart lady.
 
So....what happens if no new justice is confirmed before the election and we have another Bush v Gore situation. What happens if it comes down 4-4?

I agree there's no way Trump will get someone confirmed in 7 weeks. It will be interesting to see how the polls will be effected in those swing states now that there's an open seat on the SCOTUS.

I think he should go with Barbara Lagoa. She's a Cuban-American from Florida. This choice would sit very well for Hispanics and Floridians alike. Besides, it would be fun to watch the Senate Democrats try to bash her. That would not sit well with most Hispanics.
 
I think Trump has to pick a women. I don't like identity politics but I don't think he has much of a choice.
 
It remains unclear whether or not the president will nominate a justice so close to the election, but since the Democrats did away with the filibuster for judicial nominations, it seems likely the Senate could confirm a replacement for Ginsburg before the election. If the Senate did so, the Democrats would likely renew their calls to pack the Supreme Court after a Joe Biden victory.

My condolences to her family. I am not sure if the average voter gets how big an issue this is. It is huge. Given the fact the court is lead by a moderate false conservative chief justice the country needs another conservative on the court. I expected the next POTUS to appoint at least one if not two justices I am just not sure if the average voter really comprehended or cared about that. Her passing puts this issue right out front and hopefully ignites the conservatives and convinces the independents that a liberal court would drastically change the country for the next 50 years. Her passing may have the opposite effect and drive a larger turn out of leftists playing into Uncle Joe's hand. She should have vacated during the Hussein establishment and enjoyed her life a little more. There was no way she was going to step down under DJT and her stubbornness caused this turmoil here at election time. There is not a chance in hell she will be replaced before the election. McConnell is a do nothing politician who only cares about McConnell. I am not a fan nor do I have any confidence in his leadership or ability to make anything happen.
