Why Home Depot? Why?

For a while there, the Home Depot in Hiram had a cluster of employees standing just inside the regular entrance greeting folks and asking if they could help direct them to what they were looking for. Not sure if that is something they only do during certain days/times or if they don't do it anymore.

I've really only had one really bad customer "non-service" experience in that store. The guy working in the garden center barely knew the difference between leaves and roots yet wouldn't acknowledge it. I finally just told him that I didn't need help. Any other time that I have been in there has been fine to great.

I would be pretty annoyed by the door thing, though. I get that people have proven that they can't be trusted not to destroy floor models in some areas but there has to be some way for customers to properly inspect the products before expecting them to pay that kind of money for them.

The truck I currently have was ONE DAY OLD when I went to the Hiram Depot to pick up a load of straw. I went inside to pick up a few more things and when I returned there was a dent the size of my fist on the front passenger side wheel well. The inside of the dent was painted that nice Depot Orange and one of their lumber carts was close by.

I made a claim with the manager, but after a few weeks of back and forth with their customer service people, they REFUSED to assist with the repairs. I was SO HOT I about threw a rod! Shortly afterwards, they put in cross tie areas to hold their carts in.

I vowed to NEVER spend another dime there! Every once in a while I'll buy small items there because I'm not going to punish my wallet and make a point by driving an extra 10 miles to Lowes. However, any REAL money I spend goes to Lowes.

But back to the original topic. I even went in there last week and thought I'd look at screen doors. Just as Fox mentioned, the one I really wanted to look at was a special order. There was not even a color photo of it, just a pencil drawing on a page. Looks like Lowes wins again. 8)
