Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

Just saw on TV that there are currently 86 cruise ships with COVID outbreaks.
One of the secondary reasons I was considering taking the vaccine next month is so the Queen and I could possibly plan a cruise because we seriously need a vacation for just the two of us. I honesty can't see taking a cruise now because I cannot take the risk of being stuck out at sea for additional weeks should there be an outbreak on the ship and the ports not allow entry. As nice as it sounds I just can't take that chance and be away from work for that long of a time. If we were retired then I wouldn't necessarily mind.

Every one of those cruises are 100% vaccinated, BTW.

I love cruses but there's no way in hades I'd get on on a floating Petri dish right now.

When everything looked like it was winding down, we took a chance and booked a cruise with friends for next August, figuring that after the summer would be the lowest risk. We shall see if our plan pays off.

At the moment, it's looking like the Omicron surge is moving very quickly and might be mostly gone within a month. But just have to see if that bears out, and then there's the question of what is behind it?

Found out my wife and I (we are both in our 70s) were exposed at a small family gathering over Christmas. One person 26 young and healthy tested positive Monday was fairly sick for 2 days doing better now. My daughter sick today shes in her 50s and vaccinated but no booster. We are fully vaccinated + booster (Pfizer) I guess we’ll find out how good the jabs are.

Gobs of people around me are getting it, looking like mostly the Omicron. One lady at church has it for the third time, fully vaccinated.

I suspect the next two weeks will be wild and crazy with COVID cases, a whole lot of people are gonna get it. But again, this cloud might have a silver lining.

What camps?

Wow. Once she recovers this time, she may want to move to a dessert island. Clearly, neither natural immunity or the vaccines are helping much in her case.
Yeah, it seems to like her for some reason. But her case isn't typical.

Our trip to the Cotton Bowl is being cut short as my wife was not feeling well after we got here. Took her to urgent care and she popped positive for Covid. We are gonna head back home tomorrow.

I thought I originally read that when this started in Africa, it was very mild... very few of the population had been vaccinated, they were relieved that Omicron was mild because if it had been the Delta version, the deaths would have been really bad due to lack of the vaccine.

So I am prone to think they are pulling things out of their hind end to justify the vaccine, even those unvaxxed countries have not been ravaged by Omicron in its mild form.

A relative handful of scientists have been talking about T cells for quite awhile, but I get the feeling they are not widely understood. Many thing the T cells can provide up to a lifetime of immunity to COVID. Note that T cells can come from the vaccine, but seem to be stronger from previous infection.

BTW..."Previous Infection" is the new term for natural immunity. I guess saying it that way is better than admitting they were wrong about it.
