This is a very good Twitter thread that does a very good job explaining why DeSantis would be better than Trump in 2024.

Here is the text if you don't want to go to Twitter.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the thing about DeSantis v Trump and getting things done: When DeSantis was first elected in 2018, he didn't have supermajorities. He had simple majorities, same as Trump had when he was elected in 2016. What's happened since?

Do you think the GOP might have won the 2018 national midterms rather than gotten slaughtered if Trump, like DeSantis, had been a ruthlessly competent and fearless executive?

Answer: yes.

DeSantis came in in 2018 and immediately GOT SHIT DONE. Tax cuts, regulatory rollback, school reform, environmental cleanup, and most importantly, massive personnel changes throughout all levels of state government (he drained the swamp).

Trump, in contrast, did NOTHING.

Trump never once presented legislation to Congress in his first term.

DeSantis became well-known nationwide for having a superb relationship with the legislature which resulted in the most productive legislative sessions in America.

In DeSantis's first term he quite literally cleaned out the entire state government. Every Democrat he could legally remove from office, he did, and replaced them with loyalists.

Trump famously did the opposite. He left the entire Swamp in place. Didn't touch any part of it.

Trump's executive branch was FROZEN with inaction during those crucial first two years where he had a GOP Congress. It was marked by infighting between Bannon and Priebus and angst over personnel decisions (much like the Trump campaign last night with its Loomer drama).

Bannon started keeping a white board in his office where he wrote down all the promises Trump had made during the campaign that weren't being kept. That pissed Trump off and he fired him.

Trump had no idea how Washington worked (still doesn't) and no idea what to do, where to go for help, what levers to pull, and as a result, he got EATEN ALIVE.

Now, we should give credit where due, there was one major piece of legislation that came through in Trump's first term: Paul Ryan's tax cut.

Weird though, don't you think, that Trump's only accomplishment was actual the realization of his arch nemesis's lifelong ambition.

That's how it was for Trump in the White House, though. Everyone else got what they wanted, and he just got pushed around. He was beyond out of his depth. He was a substitute teacher getting run over by students run amuck.

The end result of these contrasting styles?

Trump lost the 2018 midterm, then lost the 2020 reelection.

DeSantis grew the legislative majority in 2020, then won reelection in 2022 by a landslide.

Now DeSantis has supermajorities and is having the most productive legislative session in American history.

And that is not hyperbole, that is fact. What's happening in Florida right now, as in this week, is unprecedented in American history.

Permitless carry, massive MASSIVE infrastructure improvement and hurricane recovery, environmental cleanup, complete and total reform of the public schools (the 3rd largest state now has total school choice and vouchers! Amazing!).

Wide ranging tort reform that ends frivolous lawsuits, a complete remodel of Florida housing law that makes Florida the easiest place in America to build (that law alone will have massive positive benefit to Florida for generations).

Puberty blockers are outlawed, pronoun BS will be outlawed in public schools, high schools will have start times that correspond with adolescent sleep schedules, woke corporations will face consequences, ESG investing is punished, the State Guard will grow, even more police hired.

What's happening in Florida right now is a god damned miracle, and the reason we want DeSantis to be president is because we want THIS for the entire nation and we absolutely can have it.

It's time! No more pussyfooting around! We can use the government to end Leftist madness!

Can't argue with this.

DeSantis has built the road map of how other pro liberty states need to get strong and be on offence, not defense

Sadly it seems that the state is either going to enforce the green agenda and limit your ability to live as you see fit, or your state is going to protect you from the current Federal overreach we see with DEI, CRT, 15 minute cities, demanding electric cars, stoves, lawn mowers, taking away meat, fertilizer, farms, and property rights.

I am a sitting duck in San Diego for the wackiness we may see in the next 7 years as the 2030 deadline for all this government, WEF, zero carbon garbage comes to a conclusion.

There is a thought that we will splinter to red states and blue states, and not so much the United States. If we look at history, men move to live where they have a better life. We are seeing it now.

C'mon over to Arizona.

We have tacos and you can drive to San Diego, and the beach, in just a few hours.
Warm weather, new freeways, low taxes, low(er) rent and real estate.... did I mention 'Tacos' ?

Did that once... Got the T-Shirt.

I lived there in 1987 and 1988... 1987 had the hottest temperatures on record.

I was a flight attendant for America West Airlines. Our planes from Boeing did not have charts for weight and balance for take off in that high of heat, because it had never gotten that hot in Arizona. For two days the planes were grounded until they got the info from Boeing.

Nice thing with working for an airline, you can go anywhere. I spent all my time not in Arizona. Then I moved sight unseen to Seattle, Washington to get out of Arizona. I took a regional sales position with the Airline covering the Northwest, Canada, Utah, and Texas.

Again, he might be an a-hole, but he's not stupid.
