Electric vehicles....

This is exactly what will end up bankrupting some auto manufacturers. The Bolt is exactly what EVs should be right now; commuter cars designed for fairly short range. Driving back an forth to work, getting groceries, taking the kids to school, etc. They make sense in this application.

But instead of producing vehicles that make sense, the industry is focusing on catering to what is likely a fad; making pick-ups and large SUVs that will outrun a sports car in a drag race. Never mind that they have very limited usefulness, the automakers think this is what the public will continue to want.

It's all marketing. Muscle cars still sell well, very well. The auto manufacturers think this is the way to sell more EVs a lot faster. I think it's a strategy that will fail.

Yep. Dad loved his leaf and worked well for him doing stuff around town and visiting us. About a 100 mile range.

Many Canadians in Ottawa don't own cars, they bike or walk to work, but will RENT cars when they go on long distance trips. I could see the same happening for those who want an electric commuter, but also like driving for long trips. Dad had his Prius for long trips, but not all will want to go that route.

And there you have it. The whacko environmentalists once again demonstrate their hypocrisy. First, by demonstrating plant and animal life are a higher priority than human life. Second, by pretty much saying, let's have an untrustworthy country produce the minerals for the alternative energy we want our military to run on.
