Electric vehicles....

I think it's safe to say this person was just a little upset over the battery cost for his Telsa:

Wow, that was impressive and didn't paint a good picture of Telsa.

Funny thing, it's exactly what 25% of world has been saying about electric cars, that the battery is the weak point. When it dies, it's expensive and has tons of dangerous chemicals that must be recycled. I wonder how much of that $22K is the cost of recycling the old battery?

My dad gave my niece a Prius, she drove it for 2 years and when the battery failed, she junked it rather than pay for the battery replacement.

Going to see a LOT of this in the next 10 years.

Just curious.....the 2013 Tesla Model S cost around $60K brand new in 2013. Let's say you bought a $60K Mercedes in 2013 instead and the engine blew up. How much would Mercedes charge to replace the engine? I bet it wouldn't be that much less than $22K.

However, the big problem with Teslas like this is there are very few options to get repairs outside of going to Tesla directly. Another YouTuber had a similar problem and got his batteries replaced by yet another YouTuber for around $5K.

I'd guess much less than $22k but what do I know, I've never owned either.

The engines in most modern cars are good for 250,000 miles or more if you take reasonable care of them. We've ran some of our vans to over 400k and they still ran pretty well. And that's working them hard. There has been 2 or 3 Tundras hit 1 million miles and still running.

The article above doesn't say how many miles the Tesla had on it, could vary widely. So we really need more info to form a fair opinion of this.

Sounds like it needs to partner with one of the big boys (Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, GM,) or bring in some more deep pocket investors.

They managed to be first in production and their truck has gotten rave reviews. And now they are swamped!

Good problem to have, I guess. But yeah, they might need some manufacturing help.

I'm sorry, who in the hell wants an electric pickup truck anyway other than to brag to their friends and neighbors that they have one?

Get off my lawn...

Butt according to the commercials it can also power your house in the event of a blackout.

I mean you’ll have lights a whole three to four hours longer than your neighbor. I think there’s a trophy for that.

If you say so...

That's what they were advertising in the commercials aired during bowl games this weekend. Every time I saw it I just rolled my eyes (I know, imagine that). I'd love to see it hooked up and running the household. I bet it wouldn't last 3 hours and then what? A dead truck battery and a dark house...that's what.
