This was mishandled as soon as Russia's troops started forming on the border with Ukraine. Every sanction possible should have been imposed on Russia, including their oil and gas industry, and Putin's own bank accounts. At the same time, Biden should have allowed the Keystone pipeline to continue and increased domestic oil production to keep Americans supplied as well as our European allies.

The president and members of Congress are elected to serve first and foremost the people of this country first.

Agreed. Ukraine is doomed at this point. We couldn't move armed services in there fast enough to do any good at this point.

Taiwan is a bit different since it's an island. China has to cross that water to invade. Likely with paratroops and landings at the same time, with bombing of airbases. We need to have couple of carrier groups moved close just to signal we will protect them or they will be gone in weeks.

But I doubt that the Libs will have the strength to do that, they are still of the mind set that harsh words hurt them, so harsh words should keep the Putins and Xi's away.
 
What if Putin forms a Russian/Chinese/Persian/North Korean alliance, Similar to what Hitler did in WW2 with the Axis alliance?
The entire European/Asian continent would be drawn into a nuclear conflict. Look for Taiwan to fall next, then possibly Japan, South Korea and then western Europe.

The Chinese and North Koreans would attack Japan, South Korea and the Pacific Rim Countries, The persians (Arabs) would attack Israel and North Africa and India, the Russians would attack western Europe, and the United States... it could get really messy quick. Of course we already knows who wins in the end, but between then and now, it could get very messy.
 
Reports are that the Ukrainians are fighting and fiercely! And they have had some successes. But no one doubts that Russia will eventually prevail.
 
Was just listening to Larry Kudlow on Fox. He made a great case that we actually financed this invasion of Ukraine by shifting our and some of Europe's oil and gas to Russia.

He also made the point that we could open our spigots wide and financially break Putin, but now it would likely take two years to ramp back up.

The Democrat's war on fossile fuel and their obsession with Climate Change is wrecking our economy and possibly pushing us toward WW3.

Now they also have forbidden any men ages 18-65 to leave Ukraine. Forbidden. Think about that one.

Supplies and arms from U.S. ? The same way they did with Crimea? Once again, America starts the mess and then leaves the countries in shambles.

Before anyone asks, I lived in both Russia and Ukraine. I have relatives and friends in both. And I won't tell you I'm comfortable with either country's actions today anymore than I've been comfortable with the West instigating conflicts in Vietnam, Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russian Georgia, Crimea and everywhere else in the world they think they can under the disguise of "democracy". Follow the money and who might benefit from all of this.

Let me simplify this truth for you:

Ukraine broke away from Russia 30 years and let the group of greedy and evil people run it into the ground.

Neo-nazi groups began exterminating Jews in Ukraine almost immediately. They went from one housing complex to the next during the night, broke into the flats, demanding to know if those who lived there are jews or if their neighbors are. If someone was not a jew but married to one, they would make them watch as they killed their entire family before they killed them too.
In the daylight, they could attack you without provocation and police did nothing to stop them. Matter of fact, a lot of the police were neo-nazi and could attack you just the same.

Ukrainian government blamed everyone under the sun for the worthless money they printed, along with food ration coupons that were just as useless because there was no food. But the Ukrainian government and elites had the food and american dollars. The rest of us stood in long lines with colored paper and went home hungry daily.

Let's fast forward it to working on Ukraine being "a strong independent woman"... For decades, under their so-called presidents they have closed down most of the factories, robbed the country blind and became one of the poorest countries in the world.

Meanwhile the neo-nazi government members did shady deals with everyone they could and were getting richer and richer.

When Donbas debacle first happened (not last week) nobody in the world helped those citizens of Ukraine that were Russians, when they were dragged out of their houses and killed for... wait for it... speaking Russian.

When Ukrainian government turned beautiful and once prosperous Crimea into another poverty stricken region, persecuted the Russian population for being Russian, nobody remembered that Crimea used to be Russian and that "selling it out" to USA would be considered a security risk to Russia.

For decades Ukraine has been ruled by puppet masters, ripped apart from within by their own government that sold Ukrainians out.
If you want to feel sorry for anyone, then do so for them. The everyday people are living in poverty and not because "Ukraine's ex is evil and wants her back".

I'm so sick and tired of reading this stupidity being passed around, Russia being compared to Hitler, oh poor poor Ukraine and Zelensky, when no one even knows the facts. It's so easy to sit here and judge, listening to mainstream media and their biased opinion when you've never lived through any of that. I have. My family and friends are still living through it. And none of them know whom to trust: their own government, Russians, or Americans because they are all guilty in trying to gets their hands on a piece of Ukrainian pie at the expense of Ukrainian people.

I don't know where everyone gets the notion that we stopped oil production or exportation. Sleepy Joe shut down the Keystone pipeline and and the Department of Interior closed some of the wildlife reserves from future production. The pipeline wasn't finished and moved zero oil while Warren Buffett still gets $200 for each train car of crude that is moved and the wildlife reserves were not under development and therefore produced no oil. What the administration did do was buy a million barrels of oil from IRAN! That's right, Iran along with several million barrels from Russia and 10's of millions from Iraq and the Saudis. Sounds like payback for something,,, or maybe Hunter is getting a kick back on each barrel. You have to remember the Biden's are a crime family and don't do anything without getting paid for it.

He shut down some facilities in Alaska and revoked many permits on existing facilities. So yes, he partially closed the spigot.

I can't quote names. But read up on it, he did partially close the tap. Fracking was a lot of it, he also shut down some functioning wells in Alaska.
