Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

1.42 in Georgia today.

Over 1 million new cases in the U.S. in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Biden on TV today still claiming if you're vaccinated and boosted you are HIGHLY protected, and that this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Numbers vary according to who you believe, but vaccinated people account for 1/2 to 2/3 of new cases of COVID.

Biden bypassed the FDA panel in recommending the booster for teenagers.

What happened to following the science? The old fool has no idea of what the real facts are, he's just reading what they put on his teleprompter.

the wife woke up with a 102.4 fever and body ache, chills etc... I went to the 24 hour CVS, but of course they're sold out of TheraFlu, NyQuil, etc. I suppose Tylenol and a Hot Toddy will help her sleep till I can call the doc in the morning. Oh the joy. This is some nasty stuff going around, but knock on wood, I feel just dandy.

The two of you need to get tested. My wife started showing symptoms a couple of days before I did. We were both positive.

I read a cute story... I hope at 103, I am this alive and won't succumb to stupid rules:

My 103 year old grandfather has gone "missing" from his independent living facility that doesn't let people out 'cause COVID.

I'm the only one he'll answer the phone for. So, I call him.

He's at the casino playing blackjack. He bribed some random new aid to take him there. Go Pop!

Well, we had planned to take a trip to south Georgia this weekend to visit our middle daughter as well as my dad but we'll have to postpone that trip now. Our daughter called to say she and her husband are both sick as dogs with Covid and got their test results back today. They think they may have got it from their son since he was sick and had a fever for several days last week, he may have brought it home from preschool.

The daughter and SIL have both had 2 shots and were schedule for their booster but I'm not sure if they got their booster yet. Luckily both are relatively young, in good health, and not overweight (yet).

As of early this afternoon, 20 of the 30 people have gotten tested and 5 (25%) are positive. Not sure of sickness level except for one guy that works in my dept....no symptoms and he feels perfectly fine. Might be a false positive since these rapid tests really aren't that great.

Not a false positive.....he, and now his entire family of 4, have tested positive, but all of them are just experiencing fatigue as the only symptom.

My business partner is on his way to be tested.

And I was in his face yesterday
We will see if your Delta antibodies work against Omicron.

I'm betting yes, because your immunity is based on the whole virus, not just the spike portion. Even though Omicron is a mutation... there are still parts of it your body will recognize. The rest of us immunized schmucks only have the spike protein and that was where the mutations occurred.

For the delta variant, the part of the spike protein that attaches to our cells is very similar to what existing coronavirus vaccines are designed to go after. But in the case of the omicron variant, the spike picked up 32 mutations that make it more difficult (though not impossible) for our immune system to recognize and prevent the virus from causing an infection.

Found out the three covid cases in the assisted living were in the memory unit with my mom. So she's been exposed. Since the shots are proven (as far as I'm concerned) to not block covid, it will be up to her alpha anti-bodies from last Jan to block it. Time will tell.
